The stone ramparts of Fukuoka Castle ruins in Maizuru Park, with fall color coming on. Built in 1607 by daimyo Kuroda Nagamasa, the castle never had a surviving main keep (its tenshu’s existence is still debated by historians), but the massive stone walls remain among the best-preserved in Japan.
